My baby is 6 months!

Wow!!! I know I say it with every new month that comes and goes, but, I can't believe my baby is 6 months old! He is such a blessing. Each new stage is so much fun! Here are some things he has been up to recently....

- Sitting up. He sits up really well now and likes to sit and play with his toys.
- Army crawling across the floor. He hasn't figured out how to get up on his hands and knees, but he is definitely mobile!
- He weighs 21 lb 2 oz.
- He is 28.5 inches long
- He is wearing 12-18 month clothes!
- Jacob and Mel (our dog) are great friends. He thinks she is just hilarious.
- He really loves eating his food in his high chair. We have tried quite a few foods and the only thing he doesn't like is peas (which I don't blame him....ick)
- He is a really happy baby and smiles and laughs all the time. He loves being tickled and having someone blow raspberries on his tummy.
- Jake loves watching Baby Einstein videos. I don't know what it is about those, but if he is fussy at all, they calm him right down.
- He had an appt with the cardiologist to check his VSD heart defect. They did an echocardiogram and it has closed on its own.... Way to go Jacob!!!

Jacob is a happy, healthy little boy and Kirk and I are so blessed to have him in our lives. Happy 1/2 birthday sweet baby boy!

Kansas City trip

Kirk, Jacob and I were able to fly up to Kansas City for a few days last weekend. We had a great time hanging out with the McCullough family. We were also able to spend a few days with Kirk's sister Carolyn and her husband Gerard who are expecting their first baby in November. There was a baby shower to celebrate Carolyn and baby Eva. Kirk's parents also had a bar-b-que at their house so we were able to see his extended family. Kirk also used this time to talk with some local ortho doctors about fellowships and where we will be headed. It is hard to believe that we only have a year and a half left in Nashville, and then it is on to somewhere else for another year!

Sitting and eating

Jacob has recently become strong enough to sit up. He is still a little wobbly, so we put his boppy around him in case he was to fall over, but he has gotten really good at sitting and playing with his toys. Here are some pics.

We have also been experimenting with some new foods. I have been giving him a vegetable in the morning and a fruit in the evening. So far, his favorites are sweet potatoes, apples, pears and banana. He is a very good eater and really enjoys his meals!

Sound asleep after eating a bowl of applesauce.

Someone was enjoying his sweet potatoes. He likes to blow raspberries when I put it in his mouth, so it is quite the mess.

Vacation

Kirk, Jacob and I spent a week out with my family. The first weekend we spent at my parents cabin on Harstine Island. We then went back to my parents house in Washougal. We went out there for my cousin, Jacqueline's wedding and had a wonderful time seeing everyone and celebrating the Jacqueline and Clay. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. Kirk had to leave after 8 days, and Jacob and I stayed out there for 4 more days. We were able to meet our new nephew, Jackson while we were there. They are so close in age, I know they will be friends as they grow up! Here are some pictures from our trip...

Uncle Allan.

Dad and I at the dahlia festival. I know it sounds kinda dorky, but it was actually really fun and the flowers were amazing!

Jake and I with the flowers.

Jackson and Jacob. You know these 2 will be trouble in a few years!

Hanging with grampie. Dad was so sweet with Jacob. He would take him on his evening walks when Jacob would get fussy.

Just playing in the grass!

Our last night. We had a nice dinner at my parents house.

Jacob trying out the swing for the first time. He really liked it and then got tired and started nodding off.

Going for a walk. If Jacob is fussy, a walk usually always calms him right down.

Meeting Jackson for the first time.

Dad went and bought Jacob a life jacket. We ended up not taking him out on the water, but just in case, he was prepared.

Eating!

Jacob tried some rice cereal for the first time while we were on vacation. I had wanted to wait until he was 6 months to start, but he was trying to tell us that he was ready. He was getting really fussy, waking up at night to eat and staring at everything we were eating. So, he tried it. He was a little unsure at first, but now loves it. In between each bite he goes "mmmm". We have also given him bananas and will slowly add in other fruits/veggies.

I am kinda unsure about this eating stuff. I only gagged a few times!

I am a happy eater now!
