Swimming lessons

I signed Jacob up for swimming lessons at the YMCA. He has always loved the water, so I figured he would love to swim in the pool too. He absolutely loves his swimming lessons. We practice floating on his back and stomach, holding onto the side, jumping in from the side, and blowing bubbles. I'm sure we will be spending a lot of time at the pool this summer!

Birthday boy

Jacob turned 1 on March 25. Both sets of grandparents came to town to help us celebrate. It was very nice to have both families here with us, and Jacob loved the extra special attention. We had Jacob's birthday party on March 26th. A few friends came over and we had a BBQ and cake and ice cream.

This has been such a wonderful year. I never knew what joy having children would bring to our lives. We are so incredibly blessed to have such a sweet little boy like Jake. It is so fun watching him grow and learn new things. I can't wait to see what this next year will bring for Jake. We love you buddy... Happy 1st birthday!!

Finally Spring!

It finally feels like spring!!! It is going to be so nice being able to go on our walks and take Jacob to the park to get some of his energy out. Even though the winter isn't as long here as it is in some parts of the country, it sure feels long when you have an active boy with a ton of energy. We both love to be outside and enjoy the sunshine!

Who loves mama?

When we ask Jacob "Who loves mama?" he raises his hand to say "I do". It is very cute.

11 months

It has been a long time since I posted a monthly update on Jacob. He has been up to a lot recently, here are just a few of the new things he is doing.

- Can take 6-7 steps at a time before losing his balance. I think if he could slow down and not try to run, he could figure it out.

- Waves bye bye and hello

- Raises his hand when asked "who loves mommy"

- Still taking 2 naps a day for about 1-1.5 hr each.

- Loves to eat, his favorite thing recently are spaghetti and mandarin oranges.

- He is in to everything. Most days our living room looks like a bomb went off!

- Loves to go to the park and swing and crawl all over the playground and go down the slide. I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time there this summer to get some of his energy out!

- Had to lower his crib mattress all the way to the bottom. He was very close to climbing out. I am hoping we can get him in a big boy bed by 18 months.

- Is absolutely in love with Kirk. He loves seeing him and even just hearing his voice on the phone. His face just lights up.

- Is very sociable. Loves seeing other babies, and loves his "friends" at the grocery store.

- Still really likes bath time.

- Likes to growl. Sometimes it sounds like he is possessed!!

I can't believe my baby is almost 1 year old. This past year has been so amazing and Kirk and I feel so incredibly blessed by our precious baby boy.
